Utility of immunohistochemical markers in differentiating benign from malignant follicular-derived thyroid nodules

Only a small percentage of thyroid nodules are malignant but these can histologically mimic benign nodules and so immunomarkers may be of additional diagnostic value alongside routine histology as they are shown to be significantly more expressed in malignant tumours.
