Cardiac fibroma: a case report

We report a case of a 65 year-old woman with a cardiac fibroma. Dyspnea and bend in efficiency lead to clinical examination. Ultrasound revealed a large tumor-like lesion associated with the left ventricular wall. Grossly, the resected tumor appeared greyish-white, solid and firm. Microscopically, the tumor was composed of mainly acellular, partly hyalinized collagen with few embedded small spindle cells. The case will be presented with regard to the differential diagnosis and histogenetic aspects.
